VALUES:

Simplicity

We believe the good news of Jesus Christ is simple to understand, to receive as our own, & to live out in our daily lives

  • Romans 10:9 -  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

  • Matt 11:28-30 -  Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

  • 1Cor 2:1-2 - When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan.  For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.

  • Hebrews 4:9-11 - So then, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God; 10 for those who enter God’s rest also cease from their labors as God did from his. 11 Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.

People

With all people made in the image of God, everyone is worth being included in a community that values, encourages, & cares for them.

  • Gen 1:27 - So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

  • John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

  • Gal 6:10 - So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.

  • Phil 2:3-5 - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.  Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.  Let the same mind be in you that was[a] in Christ Jesus.

Reach

We engage with & relate to the people in our spheres of influence by extending the grace and love of God

  • Matt 28:19-20 - Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age

  • Col 2:2-4- that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

  • Galatians 5:13-14- You my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh’ rather, serve one another humbly in love.

  • Heb 10:24-25 - And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Impact

God empowers people to have kingdom influence on the structures and systems in our communities, country, & world

  • Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

  • Matt 6:10 - Your kingdom come.  Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

  • Psalms 10:17-18 - O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek; you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear 18 to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that those from earth may strike terror no more.

  • Hebrews 13:16 - Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Grow

Yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit as he transforms us little by little into the person he has created us to be.

  • Psalms 1:1-3 - Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; 2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. 3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither.  In all that they do, they prosper.

  • 2 Cor 3:17-18 - “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

  • Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

  • 1 Pet 2:2 - Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation.
